Puppy & Manners Focused Classes

Why Puppy & Manners Focused Classes?

Puppy and manners classes are the foundation for your dog's training.  It is a great way to build a bond with your new puppy, helping set them up for future success, and making them a good member of your family/community.

This class offers a wide range of socialization from controlled group puppy play to exposure to different sight, sounds and surfaces. Information

Puppy Class 2: Puppies age 4-8 months at start of class

This is a continuation of the Puppy I class with socialization but working on basic household manners such as place, recall, watch me, and walking on a loose leash. This class is about making training fun for your puppy and setting both of you up for continued success.

S.T.A.R. Puppy Class: 2-4 months old at start of class

This class offers a wide range of socialization from controlled group puppy play to exposure to different sight, sounds and surfaces.  Information on puppy raising questions and learn effective ways to teach your puppy practical skills such as sit or coming when called.  This class is a natural lead into the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program. Upon completion of this class and passing the test your pup will be eligible for enrollment with AKC as an AKC S.T.A.R. (Socialization Training Activity Responsibility) Puppy.

Cooperative Care: at least 3 months old at start of class

This class will use training and handling techniques used in grooming and veterinary care based on the dogs' voluntary cooperation as opposed to those based on pressure or force. Using classical conditioning (pairing treats and feeling good) we will work on place conditioning, impulse control, general body handling and introducing tools used for grooming & care, teaching chin rests and more.  Must have commitment to do HOMEWORK with your dog.

Canine Good Citizen: Dogs age 5 months and older

This class will help get your dog ready for AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC). Each exam has a series of stations that test your dog's basic obedience, manors, and socialization. This test shows that your dogs is a good member of their community.
